Leo Tolstoy writes beautifully.

This book really tripped me up at first, I'd always thought of Tolstoy as a realist, but then the end came. Make sure to bring a box of tissues when you read this book though- there is a meticulously planned plot twist that gets built up from the very start of the book, but only reveals itself once it has happened.
